”The Deep House’ Directors and Underwater Horror Movie.
French director duo Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo have brought a different perspective to the haunted house genre by filming almost the entire film underwater with “The Deep House”.
The film, which is produced by Radar Films with Logical Pictures and will be released in French cinemas next week, caught the attention of Jason Blum’s horror movie giant Blumhouse. The company acquired the US rights to the independent film and decided to release the film domestically.
Maury and Bustillo, both in their 40s and loved in the industry for their cheerful personalities and sense of humor, became the leading actors of a new wave in French horror cinema.
“The Deep House” revolves around several YouTubers who dive into a remote French lake and discover a sunken house in deep water. Their adventure begins to turn into a nightmare when they realize that the house is harboring terrible crimes and they find themselves with almost no oxygen left. Their presence also awakens a dark spirit that haunts the house.
The duo is currently working on three different projects while promoting “The Deep House” in Paris. “We are soon ready to dive somewhere exotic,” they say.
